Building / Location

The Voice Institute of New York (VINY) is located at 200 W 57th Street (Suite 1203) on the southwest corner of the 57th St. and 7th Ave. intersection, across from Carnegie Hall. The building entrance for VINY is on 57th St. The building is known as the Rodin Studios, (if this site asks for a log-in, enter “cancel”), named after the famous sculptor, Auguste Rodin. Built in 1916 it’s a historical skyscraper.

VINY is in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, between Central Park South, and Times Square. It is also near the Broadway theater district, (you may also click here)  and Tiffanys, Louis Vuitton, Bergdorfs, Chanel, and Trump Tower.

Subway: There is a 57th Street subway stop on the Yellow NQRW line in front of the building. If you want to purchase a map, get Streetwise Manhattan ; most paper/magazine stores have it, too.

Air: If you are flying to New York City, we recommend LaGuardia Airport (LGA). Further away, but not prohibitively so, are Newark Airport (EWR)

Kennedy Airport (JFK)

Car Services: The least expensive and most reliable car services from the airports are (212) 777-7777 Dial 7 and (212) 666-6666 Carmel . (Make reservations, and they are usually less expensive than a taxi.)

The Park Central Hotel is one block from VINY on 7th Ave. between 55th & 56th Sts. Rates are usually under $299 per night. The hotel has a restaurant and gym. Wi-Fi is available in rooms for $12.99 a day.

Marriott Marquis (Broadway and 46th St.; this is a landmark hustle and bustle Times Square hotel)

Murray Hill Hotel at 34th St. and 5th Ave.; further away than the others shown, but it is usually less expensive, about $169 a night.

The Parker Meridian is one block from VINY at 118 W. 57th with the motor entrance at 116 W. 56th between 5th and 6th Aves.; see

The Peninsula Hotel (55th St. and 5th Ave.)  (Very nice and very pricey)

Shelburne – Murray Hill (Similar in location and price to the Murray Hill above; rooms are about $249)

St. Regis Hotel (55th St. & 5th Ave.) (Very nice and very pricey)

The Trump International Hotel (1 Central Park West at Columbus Circle)

(Very nice and very pricey)

Trattoria Dell’Arte (In the building, 7th Ave. side). We love this restaurant!. There are several menu items that are Best in the City caliber, including the double-mushroom pizza, the chicken parmesan, and the (7-item) antipasto bar dinner (very good seafood and vegetable selection).

Carnegie Deli (7th Ave. and 55th St.). World’s best deli, split a pastrami on light rye.

Molyvos is across 7th Ave. from VINY) (Love the grilled octopus and the saganaki here before Carnegie Hall)

The Petrossian at 182 West 58th Street (and 7th Ave) is diagonally half a block from VINY. The Alwyn Court building that houses the restaurant and the cafe is magnificent. The cafe/bakery is great for coffee and pastry or a light meal. ; and the Petrossian Restaurant is rather like a contemporary art deco palace; the salmon sampler appetizer and the sturgeon entree are excellent.

Puttanesca, is located a few blocks west of VINY at 859 9th Ave at 56th, (212) 581-4177. It has excellent moderately-priced Italian food.

Europa Café (205 57th, across the street from VINY; inexpensive, fast, breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and good take out service – order online)

Jean Georges (1 Central Park West). Elegant, pricey, must have reservations.

Lili’s 57. Good sushi in the building; fast and first-rate

Redeye Grill (In the Building on the 7th Ave. side)  Very friendly; fish specialists; great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The crab cakes are outstanding, the best!

Remi (54th St. near MoMA). The Chilean sea bass, Cernia Arrosto con Pomodori al Forno, Spinaci Saltati con Pinoli e Pancetta, is great.

Rue 57 is one long block away from VINY at 60 W. 57th Street at 6th Avenue. Trendy-chic, great for lunch, and the muscles with mustard sauce are terrific

Russian Tea Room is across the street next to Carnegie Hall. If you can afford it, we recommend caviar for brunch.
